Nancy's Notes

birdIsaiah 30:15bird

In returning and rest shall you be saved; in quietness shall be your strength.

This chapter is talking about putting our confidence in anything else but the Lord. It is a struggle between the Lord and Judah's leaders who sought foreign alliances but not God. This is a form of idolatry.

We could also say it is a picture of ourselves, our human nature to try to "do it ourselves". We put our trust in everything and everyone else rather than our Heavenly Father. It seems that we have to learn the hard way until we cry out to Him.

The beauty of the Lord is, that He longs to bless us (18-19). Though He gives sorrow, He is still our teacher and He will continue to do what is necessary until we learn. In sorrow, virtues grow in our lives. If we go His way we will hear His voice. (Get into His Word.) (20-21) We must cast aside our idols. (22) When we cast them aside His glory will shine like the sun and it will be seven times brighter! (23-26)

He will take care of our enemies (27-33) and as we lay down "our idols" we will begin to embrace true worship. (29) Psalm 5:11 "But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; let those also who love Your name be joyful in You."

"In returning to Him and resting in Him you shall be saved. In quietness and trusting confidence shall be your strength. Proverbs 8:17 " ..those who seek me shall find Me."

We will find rest for our souls. Matthew 11:29 The kind of rest that can say, "I trust you Father no matter what the circumstances may be."

Because of our adult ery, we have lost the simplicity of a "little child" which the Lord says for as such is the Kingdom of Heaven.

Lord Jesus, in your great mercy return unto us that simple child like faith. Amen.
