Words for Courageous Living

Optimism

I love this story!! A man stopped to watch a Little League baseball game. He asked one of the youngsters what the score was.

"We're behind eighteen to nothing." was the answer. "Well," said the man, I must say you don't look discouraged." "Discouraged?" the boy said, puzzled. "Why should we be discouraged? We haven't come to bat yet?"

Well, in my life I am already up at bat. You are, too. And, yes, there are things that come our way that tend (notice I say "tend") to make us discouraged and out of sorts. The word used is OPTIMISM - it is a letter short of pessimism. The outlook is so important...period...irregardless of a situation.

It is much like Goliath as he went to the Israelites. The soldiers probably thought, "Wow this guy is so big - never will be able to kill him." On the other hand there was David who no doubt said, (or thought) "Hey, this guy is so big, I can't miss."

The scripture is Proverbs 23:7

"As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.

I trust that you are in the habit of looking of the best side of every event. If there are dark clouds, remember the sun is still shinning on the top side of the clouds.

My prayer for you

Lord, there are, to be sure, so many happenings in each life of living that can provide opportunity for this one to decide how they will look at the situation. I ask, in the name of Jesus, that they be motivated by your Holy Spirit to seed the good in the bad; the right in the wrong; the light in the darkness and the benefit of the pain. It is a tall order, but may you grace them to that end.

Amen
