Words for Courageous Living

December 28th

Always the Presence of God

There is so much I don't know, BUT THIS I DO KNOW....God is with me in my trials...also, THERE IS GOD'S HELP IN TRIALS.

I read in the newspaper just last night that my dentist of many, many years is retiring. Oh me!! What will my teeth do? I recall I have had my twice annual check ups and the last time a crown on my front tooth broke off during the cleaning. So, mega bucks, a lot of discomfort and if it were not for the shot of Novocain much pain.

I don't suppose anyone enjoys a visit to the dentist - but in my case, I certainly did enjoy the "benefits" of being there. When I smile now, my two front teeth match and only you and my dentist knows that they are fake. (ha. ha.) But as we don't enjoy being in his chair, we do enjoy the results. I think this is true - no I KNOW it is true regarding trials, difficulties and adversity. Trust me, my friend, there are side effects or let us call them "benefits" of the perseverance through these trials.

Someone said that "A brook would lose its song if God removed the rocks"; another, "The richest musical chords require some black keys."

I suppose that a lot of us have what could be called an "ejection seat mentality" when it comes to difficulties. They (we) want to pull the ejection cord and be projected into some kind of glory where we will be away from it all. But, it just doesn't work that way. What we must do is while we are IN the difficulty project ourself to the future where things will be different and we can help someone else who finds themselves going through something similar. God put it this way in the writings to the Hebrews 12:10

"No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it."

So, my friend, just remember that no pharmacist ever weighed out medicine with half as much care and exactness as God weights out every trial he dispenses. Not one milligram too much does he ever permit to be placed on us.

LET'S PRAY

I want to thank you, Lord, that you will help this one at this very moment- as well as in the moments in the future. You are not distance, nor or you unaware of them and their situation. I ask that grace be given them on your part and on their part faith be given to you, in the name of Jesus.

Amen
