Sometimes I REALLY sin!! Who me? Yep, you had better believe it. However, for now, I do not refer to the sin that has to do with "bad" things or in "disobedience". I refer to the "sin of getting sad because of the way things are" The writer of Hebrews put it this way (Heb. 12:1)
"Let us lay aside, (or throw off) every thing that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles and let us run with perseverance..."
Laying aside the weights. Yesterday I saw a man jogging down a path. Obviously he was not carrying a bag of heavy items. He had laid aside such things in order to run. We are told to lay aside the weights. Not all weights are sins in themselves. There are things that can become distractions and stumbling stones
.I think one of the really heavy "weights" is that of feeling sad for one's self, or getting to the place of being despondent. This weighs in heavy on our heart.
When I feel inclined to complain or speak of discontent then I am setting the stage for REBELLION!!!
We have a will, my friend. We can refuse to doubt just as we can refuse other type "sins". While it is very easy to fall into the habit of doubting, worry, fretting and wondering if God has forsaken us, we must WILL to refuse discouragement. David said, "Wait on the Lord; be of good COURAGE, and He shall strengthen your heart."
I ask, Lord, in the name of Jesus, that this one realize the weights that they attach to their lives unnecessarily. Help them to break free and lighten their heart in the freedom that is in Christ Jesus. In His name.
Amen
