The other day I was looking at some of the children's books at one of my son's house. Among the variety of books was the one about "THE LITTLE ENGINE THAT COULD".
That was one of my favorite ones growing up. I am not sure if it was a blue engine or a red engine, but (you will recall, also, I am sure) the engine was asked in an emergency to pull a freight train. The tracks led over a mountain. The little engine said, "But they only use me to switch trains in the yard." Never being over the mountain the engine agrees to the assignment. All the way up she says, "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can." Then as she goes down the mountain, I believe she states, "I knew I could, I knew I could."
While this is a very simple story, it speaks very loud of a tremendous truth for not only children, but grownups as well.
If we will meet life's challenges with a "I think I can attitude" we have a head start. Jesus put it this way in Mark 9:23, "If you can believe, all things are possible to him that believes."
Seeing in our mind's eye a victory will help you be an overcomer. Right now if you are facing a decision or in a difficult situation, my counsel is to keep your eyes on Jesus, keep on His track, and faith his words, "If you can believe....all things are possible."
Lord, I ask that victory be given this dear one. Regardless of what they are being told by even good people, let them listen to you instead. May they GO up the mountain.
Amen.
