CONGRATULATIONS....CONGRATULATIONS. You have just been made the beneficiary of a will. Yep, that's right!!
There is a good chance that some of you around the world have actually benefited by a will. I know our church some years ago received a small financial blessings from a dear lady who left our church in her will. Of course, had we know about it earlier it would not have done us any good. The will is only effective and good after the party dies.
Well, I think that we as Christians need to have brought to our attention that we are to receive something from the WILL OF JESUS. Now "it is effective" because he died. So when Jesus was dying he made a will. And, what is in that will certainly contains WORDS FOR COURAGEOUS LIVING.
Perhaps you have thought that no one ever remembered you in a will, but, again, if you are in the Kingdom Jesus remembered you!!!
It is like...he willed his body to Joseph of Arimathea, his mother to John the son of Zebedee and he willed his spirit back to his father.
BUT to his disciples he left his peace (not ours) and his joy. It is said that it is possible for a lawyer to break a will, but I challenge anyone in the world to break the will of Jesus. No judge or jury can set aside what he WILLED YOU. The writing in the will reads like this (John 14:27)
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and DO NOT BE AFRAID."
I like that...don't be afraid, because we have inherited GREAT PEACE. Would you claim that right now?
I want to thank you, Lord, that you have remembered his reader. You have left them something. I ask, in your name, that they receive, accept and appropriate their inheritance.
Amen
