Words For Courageous Living

So after a church service we were in ministry with an individual. At the conclusion I stated, "You just have to believe God will reign in this situation. You have to believe the Lord and His statement that if you can believe all things are possible."

I am afraid, however, that too many times my "doubt" over takes my "belief". I may say, "I do believe - I exercise my faith." Then I look at the situation through the glasses of "doubt".

Let me share with you this interesting story of a little guy who came home from school saying that he had learned to punctuate. (Now the era of this story is back at the turn of the century. You will see why in a word I use in a moment.)

"You learned? My, how ever did you do it" said the mother. "Well, mamma," said the boy, "it is just as easy as can be. If you say that a thing is so, you just put a HAT PIN after it; but if you are only asking whether it is so or not, you put a BUTTON-HOOK."

Well, there is great truth in that statement in regards to our various situations. What it amounts to is that everything that has happened to you, is happening to you, or will happen to you revolves sooner or later into HAT PINS or BUTTON - HOOKS, i.e. an exclamation mark OR a question mark! One wrote, "Believe your beliefs and doubt your doubts." Jesus put it this way in John 11:40,

"If you believe, you will see the glory of God."

So, the bottom line is to never doubt your beliefs and never believe your doubts. Does that make sense?? Each must be kept in its own place.

Prayer

Lord, my prayer for myself and for this on-line reader is the one your disciples stated. It was, "Lord, increase our faith". Help this one to put belief and doubt in their proper place, in the name of Jesus.

Amen
