Courage / Press Toward the Goal
"Cheer up! Take courage if you are depending on the Lord." Psalm 31:24
"Not that I have already obtained it or have become perfect, but I press
on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was
laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Brethren, I do not regard myself
as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do;
forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward for what
lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the
prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
It takes courage to make changes. Change is difficult, but not impossible. It requires us to step out of our comfort zone. But as we step out and take risks our courage (grace) grows. In reality we're giving up total control to live entirely by faith, trusting God for all our needs and committing our lives to Him.
Let's face it. We will always have trials (Lamentations 3) In reality, it's God's food for growth - change. So.
What does it mean to "press toward the goal"?
It means that you see the target of an intimate relationship with God in front of you and pursue it with earnest diligence. You are not pursuing healing, faith, deliverance or blessing. You are pursuing Jesus. It means to focus on Him and to earnestly and faithfully pursue Him. And, as you come to Him, you find everything you need. Remember it is the journey - not the destination - that is important. The process is just as important as where you are going.:

Why press toward the goal?
Because in doing so you will fulfill your God-ordained destiny: a life of freedom, rich with Hiss blessing and Presence.
Jeremiah 1:5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you and before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you prophet to the nations." (Matthew 28:19-20)God has a Divine plan for our lives. He created us for a specific purpose. As we press on to know Him and to walk in wholeness before Him, we will find Him directing our lives into the plans He made for us before we were even born.
Going deeper: Read Psalm 139:16. What was written before we were even born? What does this imply about our worth and value to God?
Read John 15:14-16 What does it mean that Jesus calls you a friend? How does it differ from a servant?
Read Hebrews 12:1-2 What should we throw off or layside and what should we focus on?
Read Galatians 6:9 What will happen if we do ?
