Words for Courageous Living

I See You

Years ago in our oldest daughter Robyn's bedroom we had a small plaque which read:

Said the Robin to the sparrow, I should really like to know Why these anxious human beings rush around and worry so. Said the sparrow to the Robin, Friend, I think it must be that they have no Heavenly Father such as cares for you and me.

Today that same plaque hangs in her house in one of her daughter's bedrooms. The scripture at the bottom of the plaque is the scripture that I wish to pass on to you at this time.

"Cast your care upon God, for He cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7

No matter who you are, no matter where you are reading this, God DOES CARE for you. You may not believe it or feel it, but that does not change the fact of the matter. In a world so torn with problems - with people, so torn with problems, one can sincerely ask, "Does God really care about ME?" It was just yesterday (according to my typing) that I did ask the question. Of course, I know the answer.

Scripture tells me that God is aware of the sparrow that falls to the ground - and if so, is certainly aware of me. I tried to identify the sparrow that I actually saw flying around, and "fly" that into the scripture about God knowing the landing of the actual sparrow, I did feel better.

Scripture says that the swallow has found a resting place at the Temple. I would like to think that I, too, can find that resting place in my "temple/body". In other words, there are no missing persons in the mind of God. Wow. I like to think of 1 Peter 5:7 as a "boomerang" scripture. It is dealing with MY cares upon God and HIS care for me.

So where ever you are reading this - be it in a bedroom, a hall, a hospital, a resthome, a kitchen, resturant a motel, hotel, family room or office, I want you to hear these words. God really cares about you.

Prayer

Lord, may this dear caller really cast all their cares on you, all their burdens and anxieties. If you are aware of a sparrow falling to the earth, you are certainly aware of this one. I ask your blessing on them, in the name of Jesus.

Amen
