Words for Courageous Living

February 11th

I Perceive It

It was a humorous reply to the question. "How did you ever chisel that horse out of the marble?" "Very easy. I just chipped away every thing that DID NOT LOOK LIKE A HORSE."

Easier said than done, huh. The famous statue of David that I think is in Florence, Italy is a good example. It was sculptured by Michelangelo. I am sure that many watching him throughout all the time necessary to complete such a work of art, wondered how can he do it. Well, techincally, he took away everything that did not look like David.

Now, when it comes to the shaping of my life that is another thing. Did you know that God is trying to shape you. Let's put it in these words. God is trying to shape you up in His body shop! To do so He must remove from you all that does not look like Him. Created in His image, we have a lot of baggage that needs to be removed. I speak of the things that separate us from the Lord.

One (of the many) things that we need to get rid of is our undo concern over tomorrow and a situation that we may be facing.

Jesus said, (Matt. 6:34) "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

Let us purpose to allow God to chip away some of our concerns. How? By willing to "give the problem" to Him.

It is indeed true that God is shaping us from one image to another. In fact that is what He says. "I am changing you from one image to another." Sometimes the effects of the chisel hurts - but the results is "something beautiful"

My Prayer for You

I ask Lord that in your desire for this one to look like you that they be willing to submit. May they present their bodies a living sacrifice wholly dedicated to you. Not just the physical body, but the inner man that is faced with decision, perplexities and doubt. Bless the one reading this right now in the name of Jesus.

Amen
