Words for Courageous Living

Do You Know How Important You Really Are?

Yes, you - (who me?) yes the reader of these lines. True, I do not know who you are or where you are. (It would be neat if you would sign the guest book and just tell me the country!!)

I have spoken to so many - and in all age groups - and the thing that is needed so much is an awareness of their importance. You are needed!!!

Take for example the wall over to your right? Do you see it? What do you think is holding it up? Did you think - NAILS? Yep. And, even if it is concrete - there has to be nails used in the construction somewhere.

In a children's sermon a number of years ago I showed the boys and girls a collection of nails. They were different in size and shape, even length. I explained that nails have a special job to do. We made examples, like holding pictures up, holding sheet-rock to 2x4s, etc. If nails could talk, they would say, "Hey, I am not of much account." But are they ever wrong. Nails are both important and necessary.

There are some things and some people dependent on you whether you realize it or not. You have to be faithful.

Do you remember this song - it shows the importance of a nail in a horse's shoe.

"For want of a nail, the shoe was lost; For want of a shoe, the horse was lost; For want of a horse, the rider was lost; For want of a rider, the battle was lost; For want of a battle, a kingdom was lost; And all for the want of a NAIL."

In a building with many room, there might be some large objects in the room that attract one's attention, but there are hundreds of nails required in building each room. So, God needs many "nail-Christians" Without them this world would not be held up - or together, anymore than a building could be help up without nails.

Scripture tells us that Jesus is "a nail in a sure place" (Isaiah 22:23). And you can be a "nail" in your relationship with another. You can hold things together, also. You can help another with their burdens. Just being YOU is so important to God.

You are in a special place now - (and maybe unknown) and in that place very important. Let God use you. Don't be a "bent" or "lost" nail, but available to God to be used.

Do you know that the Word of God is compared to a hammer (Jer. 23:29)? So, let Him and His Word direct you. GOD NEEDS YOU...the chances are that if you do not do what He is asking you to do, it will not be done.

Let's pray!

Lord, as a "nail in a sure place" may this one lift up the head of their nail. Echo in their ears now and when asleep tonight, of their WORTH and VALUE to you. How very important and precious this one is in your sight, Oh, Lord.

Amen
