Words for Courageous Living

December 17th

They Call Jesus "The Bridge"

WHAT WE NEED IS A BRIDGE to cross over from "trouble land" to "peace-land". At such a great cost, such a bridge has been constructed.

Those of you living in London know you lost your "London Bridge", but gained $7 million. The bridge was disassembled, stone by stone into 10,246 numbered pieces, moved from its original site on the Thames and transported to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, USA where it was reassembled. Quite costly.

The famous Golden Gate Bridge (near where I live) spanning the entrance of San Francisco Bay, USA was built at a cost of $35 million...and that was half century ago.

Near it is the San Francisco-Oakland Bay or Transway Bridge.(It is a double-deck bridge.) It is the world's longest. With its approaches it is 8 1/2 miles long. It cost $77,200.

But the world's costliest bridge was not composed of steel and cement. It was composed of flesh and blood of Jesus. So, in his death, He spanned the distance between heaven and earth. Scripture says (1 Tim 2:5)

"There is one mediator between God and men, the man Jesus."

He is the bridge over troubled waters. One can rest assured that traveling "on Jesus" will make for a safe route. The interesting thing is that as one places their feet on Jesus' bridge, situations may not change, but one's attitude toward the situational changes. I know for a fact, that it makes me more confident IN a situation that is less than desirable.

My prayer for you

Jesus, I thank you that you paid the high price for becoming a bridge for this dear on-line reader. I asks that you bless them as they cross from "trouble-land" to "peace-land". After all, you did say, "I am the way". Thank you for being the way for this one.

Amen
