Words for Courageous Living

God, I Commit to You

The commitment to FINISH is the flag that we must fly in all kinds of weather; i.e. sunny days or winter nights. Fly it high from the castle of your heart.

There have been many who through the years have understood what is meant by commitment. Let me share two illustrations that come from two different countries. The first: Spain. It has to do with (your, if you are reading from Spain) Cortez. I am told that when he landed at Vera Cruz in 1519 to begin his conquest of Mexico he set fire to his fleet of ll ships. His 700 men stood on shore watching their only means of returning sink to the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico. Now all they could do was to MOVE FORWARD. For us today we need a commitment to move forward THROUGH A DIFFICULT SITUATION. We, also, must destroy any means of retreat and pay what price we must for following Jesus in His will.

The second story comes from Japan. We must go back a few years to l976 - the Summer Olympics, where Shun Fujimoto competed in the team gymnastics for Japan. In the quest for a gold medal, Fujimotgo suffered a broken right knee in the floor exercise. BUT THE INJURY DID NOT STOP HIM. (Now, was this a difficulty, adversity or what??). During the week he competed in his strongest event, the rings. His routine was excellent, but he astounded everyone by squarely dismounting with a triple somersault twist on a broken right knee. When asked concerning his feat, he said, "Yes, the pain shot through me like a knife. It brought tears to my eyes. But now I have a gold medal and the pain is gone."

To persevere with commitment through "painful experiences" is to gain the crown of life. Someday you will experience the place where (Rev. 21:4)

"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will no no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

In the mean time we commit our life to the Lord and ask Him to go with us through rough times.

My prayer for you, my friend

May, because of commitment, this dear one see the victory - and as Jesus "endured the cross and sat down at the right hand of God" also endure with commitment this phase of their life. I ask this in the name of Jesus.

Amen
