Words for Courageous Living

On What Are Your Eyes

I once was invited to observe a sheep shearing. It was a hot and messy event. Each sheep was brought individually to the area where the shearing was to take place. I was amazed that one person could "hold" the sheep and do the shearing at the same time.

Why? Well, the sheep did not fight the ordeal. It only seemed rough to me as a bystander. Obviously sheep in one (let's say family) were separated for a time.

I read the story of an individual who took a friend to a sheep farm in Australia at the time of shearing. The guide took one little lamb from a pen and placed it in a huge enclosure with some thousands of sheep. The noise of the bleating of the sheep and the shouting of the shearers was deafening.

The lamb remained still for a moment, then it cried, and its cry was answered by the mother at the other end of the enclosure. The lamb walked to his mother as she came to meet him.

Sometimes I feel like a "lost" lamb amid the pressures of my responsibilities. But this I know (and I want you to know it, also)

I am never out of reach of God. God sees me (you) and He hears me (you). In fact, every secret longing for better -whatever - is known to Him. In fact, He sees YOU AS IF THERE WERE NO OTHER CHILD IN THE WORLD.

How do I know? Scripture. God's Word tells me so in 1 Peter 3:12

"For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer."

Let's pray!

I thank you, Lord, that you know of this one right now. You know where they are, what they are doing, etc. With this in mind may it raise their self esteem. How awesome is that fact that you are aware of this reader. Praise your name.

Amen
