Words for Courageous Living

September 13th

Rainy Days

I went home for lunch today and decided to walk back to the office - after all it is just 1/2 mile. I am glad I did because I noticed some things that perhaps I would not have noticed if I had driven.

I must hasten to type that we have just experienced a great shower. The weather has been bad - last several days very dreary - and cold on top of that.

BUT today the sun is shinning - and the birds are "tweeting". THAT'S MY STORY.

It is like some of the birds were very happy because the rains had brought to the surface some worms - other insects. The rains and winds had also caused other "eatable" items to be available.

I recall experiences when I have seen a robin bird in our side yard during a rainy time. While perhaps other birds were trying to take cover, the robin bird was not upset by the rain. It knew that the rain would bring to the surface worms. They would be more plentiful in the wet sod.

I know that in the trials of our life (tell me about them, huh?) we should know that inasmuch as we ARE IN THEM let's look for some spiritual benefits that God could have for us. I certainly do not enjoy my trials that I am subjected to. I do not want them. I do not look forward to them, but when I find myself IN THEM, I do try to see the "spiritual food" that can come to the surface. In that I am made a better person for the Lord...and for my fellow man.

Prayer

Lord, I ask, in the name of Jesus, that you bless this one - especically if they are going through a storm. Instead of trying to outrun it, help them to walk through it...with YOU. May Ezekiel's word (Eze 34:26) echo in their ears, "I will send down showers in season; there WILL BE showers of blessing!!..

Amen
