Keeping = God's Word to You
A friend of mine is going through a real tough time. I mean it is BAD, in terms of the situation and world. But I remind him of some of the promises God has made TOWARD him.
I say, "You know, there are things that you have and are keeping. Those things (of value to you) are safe. For example - Your car is locked. It is in safe keeping. Your billfold (empty) is in itself safe in your pocket. So you as an individual are safe in the keeping of God." Let me present to you some of God's Word on his state of care for you.
"God will KEEP you as the apple of His eye." (Psalm 17:8)
"He will KEEP you in all your ways." (Psa 91:ll)
"He will KEEP that which you have commited to Him against that day." (2 Tim 1:12)
"He will KEEP you as a shepherd cares for his flock of sheep." (Jer. 31:10)
"He will KEEP you in pefect peace." (Isa. 26:3)
"He will KEEP you from the hour of temptation and support you in the time of trial." (1 Cor. 10:13)
"He will KEEP you from falling." (Jude 24)
I think to myself - while I keep some things under lock and key for safety; while I keep certain things in my desk drawer (instead of on top of my desk), so God does KEEP me. That, my friend, may not change my circumstances, but it changes the way I look at my circumstances. It can change yours also.
