Words for Courageous Living

Sit Still

It is so hard to sit still, huh? Ever try to actually sit down, or lay down and just BE STILL. The reason it is so hard for me is that I am always on the go - just like you. And even when I have4 my body "sitting still", it seems that my mind is..."going."

When should a person do what is written in Psalm 46:10?

"Be still and know that I am God."

When things are going GOOD and when things are going BAD..and when things are going "IN BETWEEN".

Like I say, it is hard to be still - when everything and everyone is moving with such speed. But there are so many benefits. One (and the main one) is that we can KNOW GOD.

Let me illustrate with a recent experience I had at America's largest aquarium, in Monterey, California, USA. There were a lot of informational signs regarding jellyfish. I mean a lot. They were beautifully decorated, some even had sound boards to "hear" about these sea creatures. But I hastened pass so many of them. Even when I did read some, I was in a hurry. So, consequently, I was not still enough to KNOW about the jellyfish.

The same example can be seen in a gallery where some famous artist is displaying his work. One can go into a room, spend 5 minutes and leave after "scanning" 10 pieces of work. But if they are to know the artist, they must "be still" and spend time. Then they will know about the author as they gaze quietly at a cloud, a branch, a wave of the sea or a ray of the drifting moon. In other words, "Be still and know Mr./Mrs (painter)"

We must not loose sight of God IN circumstances. If we would know more of God, we must relax the strain and moderate the pace. We must "be still."

Prayer:

Lord, I ask, in the name of Jesus, that this one be motivated to just "hush" and "be still" and let you LOVE them and minister to them. Let the world go on....let the Lord come in.

Amen
