Words for Courageous Living

God's Whale of Information

One of my favorites that swim in the ocean is the whale. My, there are so many kinds - colors, etc. I have enjoyed watching a TV documentary on those large creatures.

Moments ago, while sitting at my computer I read this following article. I want to compare the waters of adversity that overflow me to the waters that are taken in the whale's mouth.

Here is what I read, "The mouth of the whale offers an instance of ingenuity and foresight. Comparing it to human inventions, it is a shrimping net...The large animal is commanded to seek its food among the smallest, that millions should be daily destroyed to support one life. Had the whale been condemned to swallow all the water which it must draw into its mouth together with its prey, the inconveniences which would have followed is obvious.

"To prevent this, it is provided with a series of flat hoops, meeting from both sides of the mouth into arches and carrying ranges of bristles, which form a strainer and also a kind of net. The water is REJECTED and the mass of shrimps are delivered to the throat.

A person says to me, "Oh the waters of adversity are overflowing me. I feel I am sinking." My first reply is that of Isa. 43:l,3:

"...Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You ARE mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be WITH you and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you..."

The second thing is God has given us a "spiritual sieve" if you please. While the waters rush upon us and affect us it is important to - in my words - "Make a feeding off it." Learn, grow, deepen the relationship with the Heavenly Father. In other words, make the best of a flood water experience. Get a feeding from the flood!!

My prayer for you!

Lord, as David says that he feels being entangled in the water and as Jonah must have felt it even in the real, both can encourage us that we will not drown. For this on-line reader, I ask, in the name of Jesus, that they focus on the food and not the flood.

Amen
