Words for Courageous Living

August 20th

Where God Shows His Power

How many times have I found myself in a situation that I would not choose. Maybe you, also, have discovered that you are in a crooked place. I use the word "crooked" to prepare our mind for a poem I wish to share with you. (You who read these lines every day know that I am not much on poems - maybe ever several months or so.)

The crooked places we do not choose, but sometimes are so chosen for us by God. Someone said that these places are "a platform for the display of His almighty grace and power."

God knows of our condition. God will never forget us and in His time He will bring us out of that crooked place. My own experience has been that after I got "out" I discovered that I had learned something while "in". I am very thankful to God for lessons I have learned. Especially have they been beneficial in helping others in their similiar crooked place.

It puzzles me; but, Lord, Thou understandest.
And wilt one day explain this crooked thing.
Meanwhile, know that it has worked out for Thy best-
Its very crookedness taught me to cling.
Thou hast fenced up my ways, made my paths crooked,
To keep my wand'ring eyes fixed on Thee;
To make me what I was not, humble, patient;
To draw my heart from earthly love to Thee

So I will thank and praises Thee for this puzzle,
And trust where I cannot understand.
Rejoicing Thou dost hold me worth such testing,
I cling the closer to Thy guiding hand."

May I pray for you?

Lord, sometimes the going is not smooth and straight. Sometimes we are led into very crooked places and situations. When in such (and for the duration - even if it is a long time span-)I asks that your grace be given to this one to faith the time for the release. Please strengthen them in the name of Jesus.

Amen
