Words for Courageous Living

Don't Give In or Up

There is something about asking and keep on asking! I know that no matter who you are, or where you are reading these lines from you have repeated a request sometime. Maybe it was with your parents as a child, maybe as a spouse, maybe as a friend, maybe with a boss or whomever. It is true the "squeaking wheel gets the oil".

It is just obvious that if one child asks someone ONE time for something - getting the answer "No" and another asks and keeps on asking - then probably a response will be "OK". Of course it does not always work that way, but I am trying to make a point. The Word tells me (Matthew 7:7)

"Ask and keep on asking, search, and keep on searching, knock and keep on knocking..."

Let me just share a portion of God's word on this subject: "Once there was a judge in a town. He did not care about God. He also did not care what people thought about him. In that same town there was a widow who kept coming to this judge. She said, 'There is a man who is not being fair to me. Give me my rights!

'"

"But the judge did not want to help the widow. After a long time, he thought to himself, 'I don't care about God. And I don't care about what people think. But this widow is bothering me. I will see that she gets her rights, or she will bother me until I am worn out!'"

"The Lord said, 'Listen to what the bad judge said. God's people cry to him night and day. God will always give them what is right, and he will not be slow to answer them...'"

Another case in point in the Word is the blind man who kept crying. Because of that he was touched. And, my friend, you will be touched also if you keep on crying to the Lord. In your particular situation, the volume/persistence of your "crying" will indicate the pressure of you need.

My prayer for you

Lord, sometimes it looks like nothing will change. But we must keep on keeping on. You have stated to us to "let your requests be made know to God". On behalf of this one I do agree. You say, further, "Call upon me and I will answer you." Lord, quickly (but according to your will) let this "squeaking wheel" receive your gracious oil of anointing.

Amen
