Words for Courageous Living

July 22nd

Which Tent?

I wonder which tent you live in right now? Tent? Well, not like the tents one sees scattered at a campground, but another type. What type?. Well, here they are:

Most people move from tent to tent. What I try to do is zip up the door to CONTENT, and live there in. There is great reward in this. True, it is not easy. It takes a "willing" on our part to experience Phil. 4:11

"I have learned in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content."

Other rendering of the verse uses the phrase, "content whatever the circumstances".

I am certainly not pleased with the way some of the things are in my life and in my work. I am not satisfied at all, BUT I am learning to live in that tent...the tent of contentment.

For you, my friend, I want to encourage you to settle in and be at peace through a storm or difficulty. Please do not be like those we read about in Deuteronomy. In the morning you will say, "If only it were evening" and in the evening you will say "If only it were morning." That word continues regarding the fear in their heart. True, how fearful and miserable are those who live like that.

There are circumstances that we can not change. There are happenings in our life that are in "concrete" - and for those we learn to adapt and live with - in that tent...contentment. There are other situations that can or will be changed in time IF only we will trust our Lord. It is in that trust that I find residence in contentment. You can also.

My prayer for you:

Lord, I ask in the name of Jesus, that this one zip themselves in CONTENTMENT. Help them to know that living in DISCONTENTMENT is dangerous to their living - it is like poison. May they truly faith you and follow Paul's word..I have learned in whatsoever state I am, therein to be conTENT."

Amen
