Words for Courageous Living

The Sky Is Falling

So I am sitting in a lawn chair under an oak tree - minding my own business - and lo and behold I get hit in the head with an acorn! While it certainly did not hurt my (hard) head, it did startle me, and I was glad that it was not any bigger.

Before I go any further, I want to say that God does all things RIGHT. It is a true statement that by faith we, as a believer hold true. The way things are arranged by God does not always make sense to us. But, again, we trust the Lord through what we don't understand. Right? The following incident vividly portrays that fact.

This guy was walking under an oak tree - it was huge. He said,

"Wow, this is a great tree, but what is this? The fruit (acorn) is so small. It doesn't make sense." He then walked to the edge of the field and noticed a gourd growing. It was growing quite tall. On it he discovered a huge gourd. He said it must weigh 5 pounds. He "fussed" at God for making such a mistake. The small fruit (acorn) should be on the gourd plant, and the large, heavy fruit of the gourd plant should be on the large oak tree. That makes sense!

He returns to the grove of trees, and takes a nap under one of the oak trees. (You know what is going to happen don't you!) All of a sudden an acorn falls from the tree - hitting him in the face. He then has flashing through his memory his remarks to God. For if the 5 pound fruit was on the oak tree he would have been seriously injured.

If you are prone to complain about a current situation through which you are going, let me share with you the words of Job. (Job 42:1-3)

"Then Job answered the Lord. I know, Lord, that you are all powerful; that you can do everything you want. You ask how I dare question your wisdom when I am so very ignorant. I talked about things I did not understand..."

I am so glad that God is God, not me. I surely would mess things up thinking that a particular way is better than another. What about you? Job also said, "I put my hand over my mouth." Alright Job!!!

My prayer for you

Lord, we certainly don't understand your ways. We do, however, "will" to trust you in and through everything that happens. Bless this dear one in the name of Jesus.

Amen
