Words for Courageous Living

Sticky Worry

I have an interesting observation to make regarding one's always thinking about their problems and the things that are not going right for them.

You know if you line a garment with linen, the garment will feel real good on your body. If, however, you line it with glue, one will find that it will stick fast to the body - might add, ruin both the garment and damage the skin, huh?

While the illustration seems rather ridiculous, it does make sense when we apply it to the subject at hand.

Here is the "sticky point": If our thinking is always on the negative, it is going to make for an uncomfortable situation. Sometimes our problems get "under our skin". Now, I would be first to admit that it is not easy to divorce ourself from a worry, BUT IT IS POSSIBLE TO REMOVE A LITTLE OF THE WORRY THAT IS STICKING TO US.

What I have personally found is that the word "ATTITUDE" plays a big part at this point. If I am always thinking about my problems (and some have gotten pretty BIG) I spin down - spiral. But if I can take off some of the worry garments - like strip down a little - I find freedom. It is where my mind is going to be fixed...or in this case glued.

The words of Jesus are: (2 Cor 10:5 NCV)

"...We capture every thought and make it give up and obey Christ."

Jesus would not have you thinking constantly on the sticky things in your life. Jesus wants us to let him "line our clothes" with his peace and love.

My prayer for you:

Lord, I ask in the name of Jesus that this friend purpose in their heart as of this moment to capture their thoughts (in what ever area that is necessary) and make them subject to you. Bless this dear one especially now to receive your peace, love, undestanding and love. Thank you for actually being concerned about them.

Amen
