Words for Courageous Living

Thinking About the Future

I recently told a group of people about a clock. The poor clock had a nervous breakdown. Like all good clocks, it had ticked away 2 "tocks" every second, every day, year after year.

But one day the little clock began to think about it responsibility...and all the ticks it had to do. He began to count them up, two ticks every second, 120 ticks a minute, 7,200 ticks an hour, 172,800 ticks per day - - 1,209,600 ticks per week and with 52 weeks in a year that would be 62,899,200 times.

WITH THIS IN MIND THE CLOCK PROMJPLY HAD A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN thinking about all the ticks he had to tick. When the clock went to get some counsel, he was asked, "How may ticks do you have to tick at a time?" The clock replied, "Well, only l." So the comment was - "Go home and think about ticking only one tick." Last report the little clock had been ticking for the past 20 years.

The story speaks for itself.

The Scripture speaks for itself,

"Take no thought for tomorrow..." (Matthew 6:25)

My prayer speaks to God on your behalf.

Lord,
I ask, in the name of Jesus,
that your spirit give release of frustration that this one might have regarding the days in tomorrow's time. May they focus on today and its responsibilities and not fret over what could be. As Jesus said, "Today has its own cares." Give your blessing to this one, I pray.

Amen
